This offshore installation positioned 190 km east of the city of Aberdeen, started to make use of ultrasonic peening in 2005, and was thereby the first offshore installation in the world to use the fatigue life extension method while producing. The life extension project of 2005 involved fatigue life extension of pallet stool brackets on the cargo deck. Short afterwards it was decided to continue to make use of LETS Global’s services in order to extend the fatigue life of fatigue hot-spots in eight ballast tanks. The fatigue hot-spots were located at the longitudinal connections on the shellside of the vessel.
